For the optimal sunless tanning experience, make sure you follow Summer Glows recommendations for preparation and aftercare. This will ensure you obtain the best results possible from your Sunless Tanning experience.
Shaving/Waxing, Mani/Pedi should be done 24 hours prior to your spray tan session, no later
Exfoliate with a gentle non-abrasive body polisher 24 hours prior to your session. (Abrasive exfoliates should be discontinued up to 3 days prior to your session, as this will create abrasions)
Do not wear any makeup, lotion(s), deodorant or perfume the day of your session.
Avoid body soaps, shampoos/conditioners that have oils in them (like DOVE) as they can leave a thin film of soap on your skin. If you use these products we recommend soaking in a warm Epsom salt bath 1 day prior to your tanning session. After bathing shower off and exfoliate well with our Summer Glow Mitt and oil free pineapple enzyme exfoliant.
Wear dark lose fitting clothing and open toed sandals...
Showering right before your appointment will open your pores and can affect your tan by not absorbing the tanning solution. During showers our pores open therefore showering prior to session can cause for solution to accumulate/collect into open pores leaving dark spots on skin where solution has collected.
If you MUST rinse prior to your appointment we ask that you do so at a minimum of 5 hours prior to your session and we ask that you shower only with cool water. The cold water will help to close the pores.
Wait 8-10 hours min after your spray tan session to shower. Always pat dry after showers. (If you obtained a rapid tan you may shower sooner)
After your session avoid contact with water in any way before your first shower/rinse.
Avoid rain, washing your hands (minimum 1 hour after session; preferably longer if possible), working out, perspiration and skin on skin contact...for example: crossing your legs.
During the life span of your tan reduce swimming sessions, as this will cause tan to fade faster. If you MUST swim we recommend the use of waterproof sunscreen when going swimming. Reapplication will be important. We have found this helps build a shield on your skin & may often help protect your sunless tan.
Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize... Hydration is key to keeping and maintaining a longer gorgeous looking tan.
Apply hydrating lotion at least once, but preferably twice a day to keep skin moisturized. For this we recommend the use of our Extend or Extend with Shimmer hydrating lotion, this will help keep your skin hydrated and assist in a longer lasting tan.
Application of lotion will help slow down your skin's natural cell turnover and will ensure an even, flawless fade. We highly recommend our specialty moisturizers, body butters and tan extender lotions to ensure best results.
Avoid HOT showers and scrubbing when in the shower. You MUST ALSO AVOID bar soaps, Dove and products that contain SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or Sodium Laureth Sulfate) & ALS (Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate) as these will break down your tan. Remember to always PAT dry instead of rubbing with a towel after showers. We recommend the use of Summer Glow tan extending shower gels for optimal results.
The spray tan bronzer will provide immediate color, however, after your first shower the bronzer will wash off. Please Do NOT be alarmed the actual color will continue to develop and be maximized 24 hours after you tanning session.
Disposable undergarments are provided. Customers are also welcome to bring personal under-garments or an old bathing suit to tan. However, please know that Client confidentiality is priority and personal preference with regards to choice of Tan lines or No Tan lines is respected.
During your session Female clients may tan nude, wear dark undergarments or disposables we provide. Male clients MUST wear undergarments (ie; boxers).
